I’m fortunate that my lifestyle allows me a lot of time for messing around on the Internet. Consequently, I’ve developed a long list of websites I track on a daily basis. As I write this, I have over 130 feeds in my RSS reader. That number changes often, both as I find new feeds and delete old ones and as sports seasons change.
Some sites are more valuable to me than others, though. Here are a few that make up my core browsing experience each day.
Geekery
Daring Fireball – The best writing on Apple and technology you’ll find anywhere.
Kottke – A clearing house for all things cool, geekcentric and otherwise.
Minimal Mac – How to do more with less.
Sports
KU Sports – Home base for all fans of the Jayhawks.
Joe Posnanski – America’s finest sports writer.
Rany on the Royals – One of the many outstanding writers who, for some reason, focus on the Kansas City Royals.
Rush the Court – College basketball coverage.
Pitchers and Poets – More intelligent baseball writing.
Sports Frog and The Big Lead – Sports news with a healthy helping of snark.
Culture
I Am Fuel, You Are Friends – Lovely, heartfelt music writing from Denver.
Largehearted Boy – A fine daily overview of music, books, etc.
My Old Kentucky Blog – An Indianapolis-based blog focused on the indie rock world.
The Morning News – A little bit of everything, twice a daily.
Longform.org – A clearinghouse for long-form journalism.
