When I was younger, I would laugh at all the “old” people who would go nuts over Motown artists who were making mid-80s revivals. I must admit, every time I hear this song* I act like the people I was making fun of.
* And I hear it about once a month, as iTunes knows how much I dig it.

Trivia: Hartman wrote the song for Hall & Oates but they were unable to use it. It worked out nicely for him.
Of course the fun thing about YouTube is where this next led me. Check out his 1978-9 hit “Instant Replay.” I get the feeling the producer told them “If you can nail this in one take, we’ll have some money left and can throw some special effects on to really jazz this thing up!”
